Have a dog on REST and RECOVERY? Check out the newly updated and FREE REST & RECOVERY ROUND-UP Training
Whether your dog is resting for a few days, a few weeks, or a few months... it's hard to come up with ideas to keep the brain engaged while keeping the body resting.
If you need some low-key exercises and enrichment ideas to keep your family dog mentally engaged and entertained while restricted to a time of rest and recovery...
I've put together a round-up of ideas to help make that period of time just a bit easier on your family!
If part of your dog’s rest and recovery requires you to physically touch him, be sure to use predictor cues before doing so. Tell him where you’re going to touch him or what the sensation will be like. ie... “Foot”, “Rub”, “Poke”, “Ear”. Predictability decreases anxiety about what’s going to happen and when.
